Our Little Shopper

Weston picks up on things very quickly. He is the most observant little kid I have ever seen. He will spot things from hundreds of yards away that I can't even see or don't even notice. I am constantly amazed by the things he discovers.

He has learned in our numerous shopping trips that whatever makes it into the shopping cart will eventually end up at home with us. In past trips he has been seen to sneak things off of shelves and throw them up and into the cart. This is particularly prevalent in the cereal aisle.

A couple weeks ago we were shopping for groceries and the grocery store had little mini shopping carts for little kids. Weston got an absolute kick out of this! He snagged his cart and was off.

No sooner had we entered the store than Weston noticed a large display table just his height full of cookies, cupcakes, and other random goodies. Jackpot! Weston wasted no time. He reminded me of those contestants on the old game show Supermarket Sweep. He parked his cart next to the table and began dumping container after container of cookies into the basket. He was giddy with excitement. He was laughing and smiling as he rounded to the back end of the table and quickly depleted the stock over there too.

He quickly realized he must not be greedy and decided he should probably stop before Mom and Dad decided it was too much. So, he left the table with a cart full of treats and a big smile on his face. He continued his shopping trip quite content with himself.

Luckily, Dad is even more sneaky and while Weston helped me pick out our list and put them in his basket, Dad snuck the treats away one by one (along with all of the other random things he decided he wanted along the way). Weston did manage to escape the store with one Easy Mac that we didn't notice until it showed up in our grocery bag. Looks like he won this one!

Oh, and poor Natalie. She was so frustrated that she didn't have a cart of her own to push around. Maybe in a few months Natalie! :)
