Easter

I love Easter. What a wonderful time to celebrate the life of our Savior. I especially enjoyed this Easter as we were able to enjoy the wonderful messages of our prophet and other church leaders during General Conference. What a wonderful spirit and a wonderful message of life, hope, love, and service.

Our Easter this year was so much fun. We were able to enjoy the day together as a family and not have to worry about getting to five million different places to celebrate. The kids woke up bright and early as usual. They missed their Easter baskets on the way to the dining room to eat breakfast and even managed to still miss them when Weston requested "monkey" on the television. Those two kids had themselves plastered in front of the tv for probably fifteen minutes before I finally had to make a scene over on the couch for them to even look in the direction of the baskets.

That is all it took though. Weston noticed and made a beeline for the couch. Natalie was quick to follow. They were really cute. Weston kept screaming "egg, egg!" and Natalie was just as curious as she mulled everything over in her hands. Weston was quick to discover that fruit snacks were hidden inside these colorful eggs and couldn't get enough! Natalie even ate a few with a big smile on her face.

In addition to the eggs filled with the kids' favorite fruit snacks, Weston received a kite and bubbles, and Natalie received a princess camera and bubbles. They both got sidewalk chalk to share. I think that Weston likes the princess camera more than Natalie. He has been walking around with the camera for hours saying "cheese! smile! so pretty!" He is having a blast.

After the excitement of the baskets died down, Weston headed out to the porch to try out his bubbles. He is pretty good at that! I was impressed by the number of bubbles he was able to blow out of the wand. That is not to say that he didn't get a fair amount of solution poured on himself though.

We all changed into some clothes for the day and took the kids out to the grass to search for easter eggs. Natalie was a pro. She needed no explaining. She had her bucket in tow and was off to the races! Roland says that she had an unfair advantage because it was an "activity catered to her specific skills set." She most certainly is very skilled in picking things up and putting them in containers. So, she headed off after the eggs.

She had the cutest grin and was super excited as she spotted another brightly colored egg and headed after it. She would even stop for a little bit and start pointing at them and exclaiming loudly in her jibber jabber as if she was trying to explain to us her excitement. She was absolutely adorable.

Weston on the other hand didn't quite grasp the concept. He would run to an egg, tear it open, stuff all of the contents into his mouth, then head off. Roland walked around with him and had to point to eggs for him to grab. But, he would just open it up and stand there and eat. Needless to say, Natalie grabbed a significant number of more eggs!

The kids had an absolute blast. The remainder of the day was enjoyed together as a family. We took a nature walk around the apartment complex to get their wiggles out before conference and even stopped by Grandma and Grandpa's to wake them up and wish them a Happy Easter.

Back at home the kids put on quite the show. We had Easter buckets on the head, eggs shooting out of mouths, and lots of laughter and giggles. These kids sure put a smile on my face.

The evening came to a close with a nice Easter meal with Grandma and Grandpa. The kids sure enjoy having them around. What a wonderful Easter we had. We are so grateful for our family and for our Savior who made it possible for us to be together forever!
