When we got married, we didn't go on a honeymoon right away. We were in the middle of our semester and had no money, so that didn't really warrant a trip to anywhere. So, we spent our wedding night in a hotel, drove back to Tucson the next morning, had our reception, then was back to school Monday morning. We told ourselves that we would definitely take our "honeymoon" on our five year anniversary. Things would be different then.
Things sure are different, but no "honeymoon" trip for us this year. Getting away from the kids for more than a few hours seems like an impossible pipe dream. So, I guess we will just have to push it back to maybe our 15th wedding anniversary. Maybe the kids will be old enough by then that leaving them behind with someone won't be such a dauting task to the lucky soul. So, looks like we are trudging along 'til then.
My Dad was kind enough to watch the kids for us so that Roland and I could go on a date for our Anniversary. It had been months since we had gone on a date together. So, it was really nice.
We had grand plans to take the trolley through Downtown Dallas to check out the art district and have a fancy dinner. The weather had different plans for us. It looked like it was going to rain and was hot and muggy so we decided not to chance it. So, instead we went to the outlet mall. We have not been able to shop without the kids since Weston was born, so it was nice to be able to actually try clothes on without screaming children. We didn't end up getting anything though. Go figure.
We went to eat at Texas Land and Cattle. It is a little steakhouse type place. We enjoyed a nice, peaceful meal with once again, no children. Oh it was beautiful.
Our final stop was a gelato shop in a local shopping plaza. The ambience was gorgeous. The gelato was great. What a wonderful ending to an amazing date.
I am so grateful to be married to such an incredible man. I enjoy every minute I spend with him. Happy Five Year Anniversary!
