Labor Day

After several days of Weston bringing me his swim suit and pulling me to the door, we decided that we would take advantage of our extended weekend and go down to visit family. Luckily, we would also be able to get some swimming in and hopefully fulfill Weston's desire. So, Friday after Roland came home, we headed to Tucson.

The drive down was fairly uneventful until just before Casa Grande. Natalie decided she was done being happy and proceeded to scream with no end in sight. We decided to get out at Casa Grande and hopefully curb the breakdown. We went into In-N-Out for some dinner and ended up spending an entire hour there. I was a little bummed because by then we would have been in Tucson, but I was hoping it would pay off in some happy children. No such luck. Natalie was put back in her seat and we were on the road for no more than a minute and a half when she started wailing again. So, we were an hour behind and still had a crying child. Just can't win. Luckily she eventually fell asleep so we had some quiet for the last few minutes.

Weston was super excited to get out of the car and was even more excited when he discovered where we were. He went in and greeted grandma and grandpa, then went straight for the stairs. This is where we all stayed for the majority of the weekend. Weston because he was exploring his climbing abilities, and Roland and I because we played safety patrol. I told my parents that if they ever got another house they were not allowed to have stairs - and if they did, then they needed to have the ability to close them off! :) At least Weston had fun because Roland and I sure didn't!

Saturday morning Weston was up and ready to start the day. Breakfast was accompanied by the Disney channel (which he was very excited to have again - one of the pluses of grandma and grandpa's house). After breakfast we got ready for swimming. Weston was super excited to go swimming. He was jumping, splashing, playing with toys, riding the big raft, etc. He would run back and forth between the golf course and the pool and couldn't contain his excitement. We were happy too because that meant a nice long nap! In case you were wondering, Natalie was inside playing with Grandma and Grandpa so she was not forgotten nor neglected.

After naps were over, we drove down to visit Grandma and Grandpa Brown. Weston went darting up the front porch steps and was excited to explore another new domain. While waiting for grandma and grandpa to get home, we visited with Lincoln and Sariah and explored the backyard. Weston was of course excited to be outside and even got to see the chickens! He continued to then explore the front yard and climb all over grandpa's rocks. He had a blast. We enjoyed a nice evening and dinner with the family and wished we could have stayed longer. But alas, the kids did get tired and cranky and it was time to hit the road.

Sunday morning we went to church. Weston was super excited about nursery. He knew when that came and he was rearing to go! Natalie on the other hand did not enjoy church very much and made it well known to all. She just needs to learn how to sleep places other than her bed. After church and naps family began to arrive and we enjoyed a nice afternoon and evening with Grandma and Grandpa Summerhays, Christopher, Amanda, Brendan, Cason, Joshua, Lindsey, Hillary, Tyler, and Andrea.
It was so funny to watch Brendan and Weston play together. Weston loved it because it was someone his same height and someone that didn't push him around. Brendan was fascinated by Weston. It was hilarious to watch them run around in a circle around the center of the house screaming "go, go!" after eachother. Brendan was so fast and lapped Weston several times. Brendan then followed Weston around and copied everything he did. Weston would say something and Brendan would copy it. Weston would fall to the ground and Brendan would follow suit. Weston would put his face up to the window and tap it and Brendan would be right behind him. It was the funniest thing. I think Weston enjoyed it too. They then got the great idea to begin tossing cups down the stairs. So, they would sit at the top of the stairs and push their cups down, watching it tumble the whole way down. They would proceed to descend the stairs, grab the cup, climb back up, and do it all again. It's nice that they are entertained by such simple things.

Monday morning we made our family tradition ableskievers for breakfast. It was fun to have the whole family together and enjoying breakfast together. It reminded me of when we were younger. After breakfast, Roland, Christopher, Weston, Brendan, and I went swimming. The boys were entertaining to watch as they jumped off the raft and swam their little hearts out.

After Weston was sufficiently tired, we ate a quick lunch and piled into the car to head home. We had an enjoyable weekend and loved being able to spend time with our loved ones.
