Weston is THREE!!!!

The day is here.  Weston turns three today.  He is very excited.  I think he is most excited about his birthday cake tonight.

He went to the doctor for his well visit today.  Here are his stats at 3 years old:
Weight: 29 pounds 8 ounces (25%)
Height: 37 inches (40%)
BMI: 15 (15%)
Blood Pressure: 98/66

He would not let them check his vision or his hearing.  He was way too disturbed by all of the unfamiliar tools.  Apparently the otoscope and flashing lights all "hurt."  So, no such luck in that department.  And of course, what is a well check without a shot?  He left with a Prevnar shot to his left leg.  He was very distraught.  He has never been so upset to get a shot.  The whole way home he was telling me about the ouchy on his leg.  Pretty soon his sticker had an ouchy, his finger had an ouchy, and his car had an ouchy.  Poor guy.

But, he is healthy otherwise.  Right on track.  Oh, and of course still has not knocked his sinus infection.  So we are on round three of antibiotics since October 27.  Sheesh.

Weston is a social butterfly.  He is most definitately an extorvert, which puts his poor mommy (very much an introvert) way out of her comfort zone.  He makes friends with everyone regardless of age or gender.  He walks in a room and starts saying "hi friends" to everyone.  He will sit down next to someone and just start chatting up a storm totally oblivious that his new friend has no idea what he is talking about.  He feeds off of the energy he gets from other children.  He chases and runs after groups of children at the playground as if he was a part of their pack.  He loves to be around other kids and thrives in this environment.  His bubbly personality is great!  It makes me smile.

Weston blows me away every day with how smart he is.  He now knows the whole alphabet (mainly just capital letters).  He can identify and say all 26 letters and can say a few of the associated sounds.  He is pretty good about associating a word with the letter too.  He also can count to 14 and even count down.  He knows all of his colors (even white, black, and gray!) but his favorite color I am pretty sure is pink (or blue - I think he is torn).  :)  He knows all of his animals and sounds and will tell you if you get it wrong.  His shapes are coming along.  He knows square, circle, triangle, heart (and sometimes rectangle and oval). 

Weston's vocabulary is quite expansive.  He can carry on full fledged conversations now.  He can answer questions and has now begun the ever so popular "why?" phrase at the end of every command or statement.  He comes up with words that I had no idea he even knew and repeats things like a parrot.  His other latest obession is telling me that things are "too big."  Everything is "too big" even if "too big" has nothing to do with what is going on.  I really wonder what "too big" means in his mind....

Weston is very observant and emotionally aware.  He sees things that I would have never noticed.  He can spot something across the room and sees minute details in pictures that I have to squint to see.  He always knows what is going on around him and is very much aware of what everyone is talking about and how everyone in the room is feeling.  He knows when someone is sad and will go over and give him or her a hug and say "it's okay."  He also likes to project his own emotions and feelings on other people and objects.  So, there is usually no question about how he is feeling.  He will be sure to tell us that that is the way the car or dinosaur is feeling at the moment.

Weston loves to rough house.  His whole world revolves around wrestling and playing with daddy.  He also likes to chase Natalie around the house all day.  He is very active and runs all day long.  He can't sit still.  He still enjoys cars, trains, dinosaurs, robots, superman (even though he really doesn't know who that is), and "games."  "Games" includes watching others play video games, playing with marbles, playing with cards, and playing with chess pieces.  Anything that requires sliding, running, and balls is also a favorite.

Weston's favorite foods are: chicken nuggets (with ketchup), cucumbers, grapes, watermelon, blueberries, strawberries, corn, oatmeal, spaghetti, and pizza.

We love our little fireball.  He is a lot of fun and keeps us on our toes.  He is very determined but we know that will pay off when he is older.  For now, we just channel that determination!  We are blessed to have this loving, energetic, and entertaining boy in our lives.  We love you Weston!  Happy Birthday!
