Special Day

Saturday was a special day. Hillary and Tyler were able to go to the Mesa Temple and were sealed together. It was a wonderful day full of lots of family and friends. The sealing was beautiful and both Hillary and Tyler looked wonderful and happy. We are so happy for them and are thrilled that we were able to be there on their special day with them.

Grandma and Grandpa Summerhays came down from Utah to join in the occasion. We were fortunate to have them stay with us. It had been a while since we had seen them and they were only able to have a short time with Natalie right after she was born so it was enjoyable to have them here. They arrived Friday afternoon. They entertained Natalie for me while I finished up dinner and Roland and Weston were tending to scouting duties. We enjoyed their company that night and retired to bed early.

Saturday Weston had a blast with Great-Grandpa and Daddy. We wanted to wear him out so that he would go down early for a nap. We did manage to wear him out, but unfortunately, he sat in his crib and played for two hours so still only got about a half hour nap in before we had to wake him up to go. He had gone to the park to run around and had an absolutely wonderful time. Daddy says that he ran straight for a broken sprinkler and proceeded to jump in the water and splash around. When he was eventually bored with that, he entertained Great-Grandpa and Daddy as he ran around the grass and played with his truck in the sand and on the slide. I am sure glad they took him. They all looked very hot by the time they came back!

Natalie and Weston did very well during the day. I was very pleased and was sure to praise them constantly. Weston and Natalie waited with Aunt Andrea in the visitor's center while we attended the sealing. I hear they did well (I sure hope so). While we were waiting for Hillary and Tyler to come out, Weston and Brendan ran around temple grounds playing with their cars. They did not care that it was hot (although the rest of us did). It was difficult to try to convince them to go inside rather than run their cars along all of the benches. When we were inside, Weston loved to go to the back where the statue of Christ was and would just sit on the bench and stare. He would say "Jesus, Jesus!" It was so cute and sweet.

We were also able to meet baby Cason for the first time. He is such a cutie! You forget just how little newborns are. It was strange to see such a little one. We were also happy to see Liz and Matt as we had not seen them for a while. It was nice to all be together. We did miss Josh and Lindsey though. Josh had to work so was not able to make it up. :(

After pictures, we headed over to Golden Corral for a family dinner. Boy did Weston have fun with all of that food. I felt so bad for the poor guy that was trying to clean up after us. We tried our best to clean, but there was food covering the floor, the table, everywhere! Weston managed to dirty both his shirt and his shorts so both came off and he began eating with only a diaper. He even managed to pour soda down his chest, spit out watermelon juice all over himself, etc. I was floored. At least he enjoyed himself I guess. He was so excited to have a balloon too! Daddy blew up some balloons that were there so he had a balloon sitting next to him attached to a spoon. He was kind of upset that the balloon was "stuck" to the spoon, but he eventually figured out a fun game where he would drop the spoon on the floor, then use the string to pull the spoon back up. That kept him entertained long enough for Roland and I to hurry and eat our food. Natalie was such an angel this whole time. She only got a short nap in earlier in the morning and was so tired. But, she was still her happy and giggly self. We were so fortunate to have two happy and cooperative children.

On the drive home we were privileged to see the police escort across the east bound 202 for President Obama (can you sense the sarcasm). All I can say is I am so glad they did not shut down the west bound 202 like they did the east bound or I would have been absolutely irate. As we drove we saw all of the poor people stopped on the freeway as they waited for him to pass. I was happy that it was smooth sailing for us. We were all ready for bed!

Weston and Natalie went right to sleep when we got home. They were both happy to see their beds. We were happy that they were ready for sleep too. We enjoyed another evening talking with Grandma and Grandpa, then called it a night. It was a great day.
